Essential Skills:
 
The Essential Skills of Literacy, Numeracy, Language [where English is not your first language] and computer literacy are of the greatest importance in helping you get and keep a worthwhile job.
 
We do not want any students to leave us without achieving a good standard in these Essential Skills. This is why we offer everybody a professional diagnostic service at the start of the course to see what support you will need while studying with us.
 
We are then able to tailor your support in these Essential Skills to suit your own needs. We have a range of specialist staff who will help you at all stages in your studies in these important areas. They are here to help YOU!
 
Facilities:
 
Our Brixton centre has a learner canteen with meals at reasonable prices Mon –Thurs .
Our Flint Street and Ossory Road centres have other learner facilities for food/drink and are close to local amenities.
 
Access Funds:
 
All learners at Myrrh are entitled to a text book relevant to the course Learners may be eligible for travel expenses based on location from the centre. Myrrh may be able to offer subsides towards your Childcare fees. This is dependent upon eligibility. Ask your course tutor or the Admin Officer for a form.
 
Placement Officer:
 
We have our own dedicated Placement Officer to help you find suitable placements for your course (if applicable). The Placement Officer will also assist you in completing Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) checks if your course requires one.
As a learner at Myrrh we will also support you with CV writing and Employability skills.
Alex started with Myrrh in September 2003 after trying several other college courses with little success. Alex liked the friendly and supportive atmosphere in Myrrh and with the tutors help achieved the Foundation Construction Award with a credit mark for the knowledge test. Alex progressed to the Intermediate Construction Award and gained the award with credit and distinction pass rates for the knowledge tests.
